Who We Are

We are a seed-stage, high performing team that’s motivated by our ambitious goal of reducing global emissions. We build on our collective experience building and scaling successful enterprise companies and climate tech unicorns. We’re led by seasoned entrepreneurs (over $100M+ raised) and have raised $9.5M to date from top investors.

We are a remote-first company that operates internally on EST hours (with customers primarily in the EU which drives external meetings) and gets together in person semi-annually at company offsites.

What We're Looking For

As Head of Engineering, you will report directly to the CEO and be the driving force behind building and scaling our Carbon Planning & Analytics SaaS platform. You will lead a talented team of engineers, define the technical vision, and ensure we deliver high-quality products that meet our ambitious goals. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll wear many hats, from coding alongside your team to crafting long-term strategy to being the technical face of the company with customers.

Early Stage Experience: 0-to-1 experience in building enterprise software products.

Building Enterprise And/Or Planning Systems: Experience designing and building enterprise systems, ideally within the areas of planning (forecasting, scenario modeling, target setting, etc) with knowledge of predictive analytics and a commitment to incorporate AI into product.

Management Experience: Experience leading and managing teams of remote software engineers with efficiency and clarity across the full product development lifecycle.

Systems Thinking: We aim to power the most complex organizations in the world in the new and rapidly evolving sector. Our platform will be responsible for powering a multi-modal, multi-user, cohesive experience, therefore systems thinking is critical.

Communication: The problems we're focused on require engagement. We are seeking a leader who can communicate effectively across multiple stakeholders with varying levels of technical proficiency and subject matter expertise to drive product development and implementation.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the engineering team, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
• Define the technical roadmap and architecture for our platform, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, development, testing, and deployment.
• Recruit, hire, and onboard top engineering talent.
• Mentor and coach engineers, helping them grow their skills and careers.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (product, design, customer success, sales etc.) to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
• Develop and implement performance metrics and monitoring systems to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
• Manage vendor relationships and lead build-vs-buy decisions.
• Lead technical projects inclusive of security reviews, SOC2/ISO27001 controls, penetration tests and external assessments.

About The Tech:

• We use React, Next.js, and the Backend-for-Frontend pattern for our primary user interface.
• We use the opinionated NestJS framework for our Node.js API, which is deployed to AWS Fargate.
• We use PostgreSQL for our Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) database, which is deployed to AWS's RDS.
• We use TypeScript to write all of our JavaScript code.
• All of our code is version-controlled on GitHub. We use a modified / less mature version of Trunk Based Development that leverages feature branches, release branches, and feature flags. We run our CI and CD via GitHub Actions.
