Mill is all about answering a simple question: how can we prevent waste? Less waste can save time, money, energy, maybe even our planet. And there’s no better place to start than food. Food waste is one of the most solvable climate problems facing us today. Plus, our trash really stinks. It’s gross, heavy, and our least favorite chore. At Mill we are striving to build a better environment for all, as we take on climate and kitchen change.

Role Description

We're searching for an innovative Electrical Engineering Intern to join our hardware team for the fall semester. From day one, the electrical engineering intern will work with the engineering team to help test and validate our upcoming product. This is not an internship where you will have a side project that will be thrown away as soon as the summer is over. You will be an integral part of the team and work on the actual product itself. Our ideal candidate is a creative thinker who is eager to learn and excited for hands-on work.

Responsibilities:

  • Run experiments to collect and analyze hardware performance
  • Document and report validation data
  • Work alongside key Engineers to root-cause problems and find Hardware/Firmware/Software solutions and workarounds

Skills And Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering or related field or can demonstrate equivalent experience
  • Fundamental understanding of analog, digital, and power circuit design
  • Experience with microcontrollers, sensors, and motor drivers
  • Experience on using test and measurement equipment like oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters, etc..
  • Experience in MATLAB, Python, C/C++ or equivalent tools for scripting collection and analysis of data

The estimated base hourly range for this position is $30 to $40, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs. At Mill, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
