Lead Installer and System Designer for Ductless HVAC

Redwood City, CA, USA
Posted on Tuesday, April 18, 2023
Our mission is to move humanity off of fossil fuel heating. 20% of US global warming emissions come from homes (that’s more than cars!). The largest driver of home emissions is burning fossil fuels for heat. To stop climate change, over 80M US homes need to transition from combustion to efficient, electric heat pumps over the coming decades.
We believe for this to happen the world needs fantastic products that are easy to purchase. Today's heat pumps lack great design, make limited use of software, and are difficult and stressful to adopt. We are building a next generation, beautifully designed, AI optimized home heating and cooling system that is 10x better than what is on the market today.
Our founders recently left Google, where they had highly successful careers across engineering, design, and product management. We are backed by some of the best climate tech and AI investors in the world.
Quilt is hiring a senior level HVAC Lead Installer who has experience working with residential ductless mini-split heat pump systems. This is a unique opportunity to join a well-funded, venture backed technology company taking a new approach to residential HVAC. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial and interested in both delivering great customer service and contributing their expertise and creativity to building a company from the ground up.
Perhaps you’ve thought about starting your own HVAC services company but haven’t yet made the leap. If so, this job is for you.
We are exclusively focused on ductless mini-split heat pump systems. Quilt has a reliable stream of customer leads that we pre-qualify, as well as a network of installation partners who can assist with installations.

  • Consult with prospective customers about ductless mini-split heat pumps
  • Propose system sizing, design and installation plan
  • Install and oversee installation of mini-split systems with assistance from part-time contractors and installer partners
  • Provide expert advice and collaborate with Quilt’s product and engineering teams to design a scalable process for pre-sales, purchase and installation
  • Advise on the design and engineering of Quilt’s flagship hardware product

  • 4-6 years experience minimum. Specifically, at least four years of journey-level experience so as to qualify for the C-20 California Contractor License.
  • Experience installing and servicing multi-zone residential ductless mini-split systems.
  • Enthusiasm for consulting with customers and providing excellent customer service
  • Understand and apply all residential codes
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in ambiguity
  • Ability to work on site in Redwood City and the Peninsula

  • EPA Type II (Required)
  • If not already held, qualified and interested in applying for California Contractor License C-20 Warm-Air Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning Contractor. In addition, qualifications for (or possession of ) C-10 (Electrical Contractor) and C-38 (Refrigeration Contractor) would be an added bonus.

  • Full-time salary: $100K-150K per year
  • Annual Bonus
  • Startup equity
